If you are a fan of K-beauty, then you must certainly have seen this “Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot Serum” featured in many accounts dedicated to K-Beauty. And if you are like me who adore Liah Yoo (founder of Krave beauty), I decided to get my hands on this after seeing her good review on this.

My first encounter with Goodal products was back in 2016 when I first visited Korea. Even though I had done my research and had made a list of popular skincare products that I wanted to buy, Goodal was not on my list. I guess back then, they were not as globally recognized as they are now. While shopping in Club Clio Store, I was gifted some of the Goodal sheet masks with my purchase. I wish I had tried those masks while I was still in Korea because when I tried them after returning to Japan, the masks distinctively stood out. This had me digging more on the brand.

From then onwards, I have always been trying to try out more of Goodal products. I think it was not until a year or so that their products have had more global friendly access. I hope they can have an international online site for consumers soon. Currently, Goodal products are sold in third party sites (Stylekorean, Amazon). I purchased mine fromĀ www.qoo10.jp

When I saw this Goodal Serum being raved and highly recommended in one of Liah Yooā€™s YouTube video, I grew desperate to get my hands on it. Plus, I had been seeing this serum in many of my friendsā€™ accounts in IG which only heightened my excitement to try the Goodal Green Tangerine Vita C Dark Spot serum. My excitement knew no boundaries and I ordered two sets of this serum along with the whole Green Tangerine line products (excepting the Toner pads).

What is in this?

Made with 70% nature-derived Vitamin C from green tangerine, this is a minimally irritant everyday vitamin serum. You might wonder why green tangerine and what is so special about it? Well, green tangerines are available only for around four weeks out of a whole year and contain natural vitamin C ten times the amount of regular tangerines.

Other notable ingredients:

  • Arbutin, Niacinamide, Turmeric (skin brightening)
  • Centella Asiatica extract, Green Tea extract (soothing, antioxidant)
  • Liquorice (soothing, skin brightening)
  • Sodium Hyaluronate (moisturizer)

My Thoughts

First thing first, can we appreciate the packaging of this serum? This comes in a sturdy pump glass bottle with a beautiful hue of green & yellow. The texture of this is like a gel-like serum which not only spreads easily but is also fast-absorbing. There can be a slight tackiness if you get too excited and decide to apply a huge amount. But it relatively absorbs well with little or no tackiness.

Now the brand claims this to be an innovative serum that can fade dark spots in two weeks of use. Along with fading away blemishes, this also promises to brighten up dull skin. I would say this is a very optimistic claim from the brand. Why I say this is because I was already on my second serum and was not seeing any vast improvements.

As far as fading scars are concerned, this did help fade my old PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) slightly. Although not after two weeks as mentioned in their claims. Much slower but then I think it also has to be related to how old your PIH is.

By this, I donā€™t mean that this does not brighten up dull skin. It does brighten up slightly. I have tried other products that have delivered far better results in terms of brightening dull skin than this serum. Do you know what I mean? You canā€™t be on the second bottle of serum and still have only minimal results. Having said this, I don’t want to discourage you to not try this. Because when paired with the Green Tangerine Vita C cream, the results are a bit enhanced and prominent. However, I don’t think that this serum alone is a stand out product.

Conclusion

The Goodal Green Tangerine spot serum is not a serum that blew my mind away as claimed by many. But I guess all skin types are different. The results with this are very subtle for me. Nevertheless, your skin may benefit differently and you can give this a try.
