Having always been more of a cleansing oil person, I was extremely excited to try my first-ever cleansing balm. My first ever cleansing balm and that too from one of my most favorite brand I’m From. The ‘Fig Cleansing Balm’ is a recently launched product from the brand’s new fig line. The fig line includes a toner, a cleansing balm, and a scrub mask (reviewed in my earlier post). I’m From has been globally recognized for its popular natural ingredients wash-off masks and essences. The cleansing balm is the brand’s first-ever balm. Will this cleansing balm make me switch over from a cleansing oil person to a cleansing balm person? Read along to find out.

I'm From Fig line

What is in this?

This balm is formulated with 7.8% of fig oil water and is claimed to effectively remove makeup, dirt, and oil. It comes in a luxurious matte finish plastic tub with a spatula (100ml). Fig as an ingredient in skincare has been known to have many benefits. They possess a high amount of polyphenols, omega fatty acids, and vitamins (mainly vitamin A, B1, and B2) making them a rich source of antioxidants.

Other notable ingredients in this are:

  • Moringa Oleifera Seed Oil (emollient, skin conditioning)
  • Tumeric Root Extract (soothing, brightening, antioxidant)
  • Neem Bark Extract (soothing, antimicrobial/antibacterial)

Surprisingly fig has many benefits as a skincare ingredient:

  • rich source of antioxidants
  • enhances skin’s hydration
  • helps in fading away dark spots
  • soothes and calms irritated skin
  • improves skin tone

How to use?

  • Take a scoop of the cleansing balm on to the palm of your hands.(amount varies totally upon preference)
  • Gently massage it onto the skin using finger tips.
  • Focus on areas with heavy makeup (eyes & lips)
  • Rinse off with lukewarm water.

My Thoughts

The balm has a sherbet-like waxy texture and melts effortlessly into a rich oil instantaneously when applied to the face. Because this melts into an oil easily, it does not tug the skin at all. It beautifully melts away all the makeup, sunscreen, and whatever amount of dirt that has been collected over the day. You know a cleansing balm is good when it removes your eye makeup (including stubborn waterproof mascara) without burning your eyes. Like all cleansing oils, this emulsifies into a milky texture and rinses off completely without any residue. My skin does not feel dry or stripped off of its natural moisture when using this. This balm does contain fragrance which is why there is a slight floral smell. However, it is not overwhelming nor does it linger and it has not caused any irritation for me.

What I like about this balm:

  • Melts effortlessly
  • Luxurious oil feel
  • Rinses off well
  • No irritation
  • Skin feels clean and clear.

Conclusion

For a person who has never tried cleansing balms before, I thoroughly enjoyed this balm. This not only cleansed my face well, but it also did not dry out my skin at all. I have had no irritation with this. One cannot help but feel fancy using cleansing balms. The performance of this is very similar to cleansing oils. The only reason why this balm is not able to replace my love for cleansing oils is the cost price. And since I live in Japan and have easy access to affordable cleansing oils, I still prefer oils to cleansing balms. But nonetheless, this is a fairly good cleansing balm.
